The Savage Detectives makes me want to go to Europe. But I just got an iPhone, a revolutionary device, so that will have to wait. In the meanwhile we went touring the Bushwick bar circuit.
Wreck Room has a dance floor with full-length mirrors that promote good dancing. And they don’t put on airs- it’s clear they’re a dive. There are kids snorting coke in the grafitti-walled bathrooms.They have pool. Tandem on the other hand tries to be that nice brunch place and the Sat nite party spot. That’s why they’ve been struggling lately. The creeper effect got too high and it’s just getting back to where you can dance comfortably with the opposite sex. It holds a special place in my heart, for reasons we won’t go into here, but Wreck Room may be the new Tandem. You heard it here first.
Pine Box is the best joint to drink with your homies, bring the party and let it devolve into circles of three and four. Which is great if that’s what you’re in the mood for. The best place to meet new peeps and dance is no longer what you thought it was.
What’s so post postmodern about all this? I’m blogging from my new iPhone and I’m still not that good at typing so that’s why the lower cases. I’ll put up the pic tomorrow.
