Last night, after we went to Lady Jay’s on Grand St. we biked through a drizzle and saw that The Morgan didn’t have tables in it and there were people standing outside. I chained my bike up and walked through. Not only was the back room where they have the stage open, it led to another back room. To the left of this room was a huge concert hall. There were hundreds of people. We were like, where did this come from? It was twelve bucks and the girl didn’t know who was playing but there were flashing lights and funky music and shaved coconuts with straws in them.
We joked that in twenty years this will be a Bushwick institution. We’ll wish we were young again so that we can enjoy it to the fullest.
The Morgan is full of surprises. Tomorrow there’s a comedy show. Chris Griswold told me about it. Thunderbolt Comedy has standup, sketch, improv, and variety – on Monday nights at the Morgan. Improv teams Crimedog and Out of the Woods, standup Fannie Cohen, and others will perform. It’s free at 8pm and it’s $1 off draughts. Thought you guys might want to know, sounds like a good time.
